NEURODEVELOPMENTAL CONDITIONS
- CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

One of NeuroPsyque's specialities is the treatment of neurodevelopmental conditions in children and young people. Armed with the most advanced medical technologies available internationally, we place our hope in our professionals to give all those who come to us the best possible prospects for improvement.

Neurodesenvolvimento Infantil

Neurodevelopmental conditions (such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and learning disabilities) pose significant challenges for children, young people and families. These conditions affect the way the brain develops, impacting behaviour, communication, executive functions and emotional well-being. At NeuroPsyque, our focus is on accurate, early diagnosis and thorough, thoughtful intervention.

Intervenção Neurodesenvolvimento

Our treatment protocols begin after a full neuropsychological assessment, in which we design a therapeutic plan tailored to the individual case. Treatments can involve Advanced Neurotherapy (Neurofeedback, Transcranial Stimulation), Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT), Speech and Language Therapy and, when necessary, child and adolescent psychiatric monitoring for careful medication management. Our aim is to reduce the impact of these conditions on the development of emotional, cognitive and social regulation skills, promoting a better quality of life and greater autonomy.

NEURODEVELOPMENTAL CONDITIONS TREATED

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Persistent difficulties in maintaining attention, controlling impulses and/or hyperactive behaviour. Our treatment aims to optimise executive functions through Neurofeedback and Cognitive Training, improving school performance and social behaviour, while avoiding medication as much as possible.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Challenges in communication and social interaction, and repetitive patterns of behaviour. Our intervention is focused on developing social skills and managing sensory crises, without neglecting the unique characteristics of Autism, with the support of Neurotherapy.

Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia)

Significant difficulties in the acquisition and use of reading, writing or calculation. Treatment includes neuropsychological re-education and Brain Stimulation techniques to strengthen the areas of the brain responsible for cognitive processing.

Anxiety Disorders in Paediatrics

Generalised anxiety, specific phobias or social anxiety that limit well-being and participation in school and social life. Treatment using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neurofeedback techniques to regulate the amygdala and stress.

Depression and Mood Disorders in Young People

Episodes of persistent sadness, irritability, loss of interest or profound changes in sleep. Our approach combines psychotherapy, neuromodulation (EMT, tDCS) for mood and, if necessary, specialised psychiatric care.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Presence of intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviours (compulsions). Treatment with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy focused on exposure and response prevention, complemented by Neuromodulation techniques to reduce hyperactivity in brain circuits responsible for controlling anxiety and compulsions.

Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorders

Sudden, rapid, recurrent and non-rhythmic movements and/or vocalisations. Intervention protocols that include Habit Reversal Training and the use of Transcranial Stimulation to modulate the brain circuits involved in motor control.

Global Developmental Delay (GDD)

Significant delays in multiple functional domains (motor, cognitive, social) in children. Intensive intervention with Speech Therapy, Cognitive Stimulation and family counselling to promote accelerated development.

Behavioural Disorders (Oppositional Defiant)

Recurring patterns of negative, defiant and hostile behaviour that affect family relationships and school integration. Intervention focussed on parent training and individual therapy, using Neurofeedback for anger management and impulse control.

SOME WORDS LEFT BY PARENTS...

"(...) Our son was having a lot of difficulties at school. The teacher told us to see a neuropsychologist. (...) After starting neurofeedback, we could see a huge difference in his concentration and calm. (...) I really appreciate your attention and would recommend you to other parents with the same problem."

- Inês M. (son 8 years old)

"Since "---" started her neuropsychology sessions, her social anxiety has decreased immensely. NeuroPsyque's approach is very understanding, and it's also good for us to improve some things at home. We had already tried other alternatives, but I think the concern for the family has made all the difference."

- João P. (daughter 14 years old)

"Anyone who lives it every day knows how challenging it is to deal with Asperger's Syndrome, and the continuous work it requires. I really appreciate your help and the dedication and care of all the professionals. I always feel listened to and supported."

- Carla G. (son 6 years old)

"It was great to be able to stop seeing my apathetic son with the attention deficit medication. (...) Even his Portuguese grade went up to 4. We're very happy. Thank you."

- Rui S. (daughter 12 years old)

SCREENING FOR SYMPTOMS OF ADHD (PHDA)

Rastreio PHDA

Early detection is key.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) manifests itself in different ways in each child and young person. If you notice persistent concentration difficulties, motor agitation or impulsivity, the first step is to understand the signs. We offer a simple and quick initial screening questionnaire to help identify whether there is a need for an in-depth clinical assessment.

OUR THERAPEUTIC MEANS

🎯
Complete Neuropsychological Assessment

An in-depth process to map the cognitive and functional profile (executive functions, memory, language, attention), which is fundamental for an accurate diagnosis and the creation of a precise intervention plan.

🧠
Neurofeedback

Cognitive and sensory training that teaches the child/young person to self-regulate behaviour in the form of responses to stimuli, improving attention and emotional regulation, essential for conditions such as ADHD, anxiety and autism spectrum disorders. The results are measurable and objective.

Non-Invasive Transcranial Stimulation (EMT/tDCS)

Neuromodulation techniques that adjust cortical excitability, among other neural structures and circuits, used to treat conditions such as cognitive impairment, attention deficit, tics, OCD, etc., enhancing brain plasticity.

💆
Paediatric Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT)

Therapy adapted to children and young people, focussed on the development of coping strategies. coping to deal with anxiety, depression, anger management and impulse control, teaching essential social and emotional skills.

💊
Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry and Paediatrics

Follow-up treatment with psychotropic drugs, when strictly necessary, and monitoring of the child's neuropsychomotor development, in coordination with non-pharmacological therapies.

👤
Speech and Language Therapy

Essential intervention focused on the development of verbal and non-verbal communication, articulation, fluency and language processing, crucial for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and specific learning difficulties.

📊
Family Support and Guidance (Parent Training)

Joint sessions with parents or carers to provide practical, evidence-based strategies for behaviour management, effective communication and promoting a family environment that supports and reinforces the therapeutic gains made in the clinic.

🏃
Intervention in Learning Difficulties

Individualised programmes focused on re-educating the cognitive functions underlying reading, writing and calculation. Our aim is to provide the child with tools to restructure the learning process.

📱
Remote and Continuous Monitoring

Close monitoring, adjusting the treatment plan according to the clinical evolution and needs of the child/young person, with the aim of maintaining the improvements achieved.

NEUROFEEDBACK AND CEREBRAL MAPPING (qEEG)

Neurofeedback e QEEG

Neurofeedback (NF) can be described as "a gym for the brain".
This therapy allows patients to train their brain activity, learning to self-regulate behaviour based on their own brain wave patterns. At NeuroPsyque, the process begins with a Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG) to map the brain activity profile (the "brain map"), allowing for the creation of a personalised and precise 100% training protocol. This objective approach, which makes it possible to visualise effects on the brain in real time, is crucial for maximising the effectiveness of treatment in conditions such as ADHD, Anxiety, Depression and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), among others.

WHAT DISTINGUISHES NEUROPSYQUE

In a country where diagnosis and intervention in neurodevelopmental conditions are often late and fragmented, NeuroPsyque's mission is to offer truly integrated treatment. We are pioneers in Portugal in combining advanced neurotherapy with neuropsychology, paediatric psychiatry and other personalised therapies, moving towards eliminating dependence on drugs and their harmful effects and enabling treatment that maximises the developmental potential of the body and mind.

🎯 Integrated Multidisciplinary Approach to Neurodevelopment

Our team of Neurologists, Neuropsychologists, Paediatric Psychiatrists and Neuromodulation Specialists work to guarantee precision and coherence between different therapies, and maximum effectiveness for each case.

🔬 Advanced and Non-Invasive Paediatric Neurotherapies

We are pioneers in combining Neurofeedback, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Transcranial Electrical Stimulation (tDCS) techniques to optimise brain function and develop the regulation capabilities of the Central Nervous System.

👤 Focus on Potential and Absolute Personalisation

Each therapeutic plan is designed specifically for the child/young person's unique neuropsychological profile, and adjusted dynamically based on objective assessments made throughout the treatment and their clinical response. We do not apply standardised protocols.

🏥 Privacy and Optimised Therapeutic Environment for Children

Our facilities are modern, cosy and designed to reduce anxiety and promote the comfort of children and young people, with consultation spaces suited to the dynamics of family support.

🎓 Specialisation in Paediatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychology

Our professionals have advanced training and proven clinical experience in the differential diagnosis and treatment of complex neurodevelopmental conditions, guaranteeing the highest rate of diagnostic accuracy.

💊 Careful Management of Paediatric Psychotropic Drugs

Our priority is non-pharmacological intervention. When medication is necessary, it is prescribed and monitored with the aim of minimising the dose and time of use, in combination with neurotherapies and psychotherapy.

🔄 Strategies for Maintenance and Transition to Adulthood

We develop a long-term plan to consolidate the gains, teach self-management strategies and prepare the young person for the transitions of adolescence and adulthood, preventing the relapse (return) of symptoms and supporting their independence.

Choosing the right treatment for neurodevelopmental conditions will be key to shaping your child's future. At NeuroPsyque, we combine science, cutting-edge technology, clinical experience and humanisation to offer the best in paediatric intervention. Don't settle for simplistic treatments.
